China's Wireless Anti-Porn

Anti-pornography campaigns in China have been going on for some time it seems. As far as having giant steamrollers crushing piles of pornographic DVDs.

Communist Party's decency police has their sights on wireless porn.

The Ministry of Public Security on mobile porn are targeting sites that use wireless application protocol, or WAP — a method of producing Web sites for mobile handsets. They're focusing on larger cities such as Shanghai, Beijing and Guangdong, where many Chinese WAP sites are registered, and will run through the end of the year.

Concerning authorities, is the advent of high-speed “third generation,” or 3G, wireless services. 3G make it much easier to surf the Web wirelessly than traditional cellphones.

I've never supported porn in any form, but I never heard of any country going to such an extreme over it. China is not my favorite country for more than one reason and so I'm having mixed feelings about when China is doing about wireless porn.

Knowing China there's just always more to it than what they say.

  2. I feel China should worry about more important topics. If someone wants to look at porn, it's their choice, let them be.
I don't follow many problems that occur in China, but im sure there is mroe serious ones to look into.
What exactly are they trying accomplish by doing this anyways?

  3. My girlfriend would agree with the Anti-Porn movement and have a good laugh at the steam roller bit. I really can't decide if this is even something most people should worry about? Sure China has some extremes that most don't agree with but when the subject matter is considered negative by most people then it's not such a big deal to be upset about.

  4. I do think that the anti porn movement is a good thing because so many awful things come from porn, especially porn addiction. It can only help to try and get rid of it, but I do think time and money could be spent on more important things happening, especially in China.

  5. I'm with Jeff. They must have more important problems than a couple of DVDs, but even if you are for the anti-porn movement, you have to admit that this is yet another form of oppression. Communist control.

  6. Aren't there more important issues for a country to be concerned about? If someone wants to watch porn I believe they should have the right to. It boggles my mind what some countries get so worked up about issues that don't seem that important.
